My only concern is the structure of the article, which could give the impression that this is still a work in progress. The single sentence paragraphs are especially a concern, which is discouraged by MOS. For example, for the "Legality of same-sex sexual activity" paragraph, is there any information about the history of same-sex relationships in Santa Catarina between 1830 and 2013 that might be worthy of inclusion here? Or for the "Non-binary people" section, maybe some updates could be included. For example, is there any data for how many people in the state have been legally recognized as nonbinary since 2021? Or with regards to the transgender sports bill, maybe there is information about the background of this legislation and subsequent reactions and effects that would be worthy of inclusion. Bneu2013 I assume the structure is based on other articles on Category:LGBTQ rights in Brazil by state or district, some of which have {{Empty section}} (eg. LGBTQ rights in Piauí) or {{Expand section}} (eg. LGBTQ rights in Acre). While for previous centuries, I couldn't find anything specific looking at LGBTQ history in Brazil. The article focuses on the juridical rights (mostly statutory laws or legislation), I can see why the gaps would stand unless it becomes a WP:BCA, and changing scope would warrant a title change as well. I am not seeing the hook fact stated in the article. The only mention of non-binary gender change is "In 2021, Idris Kawabe became the second non-binary person in Brazil and the first in the state to legally change their documents to reflect a neutral gender." This is a far cry from the state being the second to allow it; it's entirely possible that another state allowed non-binary gender change, but nobody received legal recognition until after Kawabe. — Chris Woodrich (talk) 19:42, 4 August 2026 (UTC)

There are editors who dislike "first" hooks but given that the source is the NYT and CDC said it I think that should be enough (or if editors object it could be changed to "first known survivor..."). For the second hook, it seems the source says, "The discovery put the Peruvians on a short list of people who have survived rabies without a vaccine. The best-known member of this select group is Jeanna Giese..." Is it accurate to say she's the "most well-known survivor" of rabies in general when the source seems to indicate she is the best known among those who did not have a vaccine?   • At the WT:DYK discussion, which was subsequent to ALT2a being promoted, I suggested numerous alternatives based around ALT0, with Naruto finding the original ALT0 not interesting because it seemed to require familiarity with the group. In general, they also didn't think the angle works out since lots of groups make melancholic (of the last two image hooks [intended to be our most interesting], one was that parkkeepers lived in a parkkeepers house and that a successful person is the daughter of a billionaire). I think the melancholic song angles is interesting since while a lot of groups do it, I don't think its common for them to be done with the sole purpose of garnering popularity. I think readers will wonder why its members weren't relatable, and why melancholy would be the solution to this (questions which the article expands on!), and for ALT0c it makes them wonder why melancholy would be the route to wider appeal, as most works that aim for wide commercial appeal stay on the lighter side. :

• Article is new enough, long enough, and in a good place on presentability (interesting page!). QPQ looks good. Not a fan exactly of Guinness World Records being used for the hook cite (it's not the most reliable org), but its pretty non-controversial and it's also discussed in RSs ( and ).

Otherwise the hooks could use a tweak to get to DYKINT—most people don't know the details of 405 KGs of TNT equivalent or 170 tonnes in relative terms and specific decimal-point numbers feel a little unnecessary (e.g. "over 400" makes the point). A simple change to it as record-breaking or "the most" would make that a bit clearer/intriguing. • The "Biography" section is completely unsourced. Reliable sources need to be added for those facts.
• The source for the sentence about the replica of the rail car at the Semakh Historic Railway Station museum failed verification, as the source does not mention the rail car at all. On the other hand I found and added a source for a separate fact in the article that could be used as a source to say a replica of the rail car is at a memorial site in Semakh (perhaps the railway station museum is that memorial site but then that would need a reliable source.
• The last paragraph about the YMCA has one source that also does not verify any of the facts in that paragraph. I found a blog site that mentions some of those facts but that does not appear to be a reliable source. So either reliable sources for those facts need to be added, or the paragraph needs to be removed.
• The source supporting the hook blocks me when I try to link to it from Wikipedia. I was able to link to it separately, but it is not clear that the source is reliable. However, as the fact-check found that he was not the first black player to play in Turkey, I considered marking it as not interesting. Anyway, I just discovered that when Şener played for Beşiktaş, the club competed in the Istanbul league since the national-level football competition in Turkey did not yet exist. Hence, the hook is better rewritten as:

• Great idea for a Wikipedia article. New enough (nominated on same day moved into mainspace), more than long enough (31755 characters). Has a lot of sources – 81 are cited (20 of which Cite Unseen finds generally reliable, 11 no consensus, 5 marginally reliable, and 6 generally unreliable). Drilling down further on the 6 generally unreliable, weirdly at least 2 of them are articles that don't even mention Freddy. Get rid. In fact, strongly recommend getting rid of that entire Background section that has nothing to do with Freddy. This is not a magazine article or essay; it's an encyclopedia entry about Freddy. That section is extraneous and if anything could belong in a completely different Wikipedia article (maybe). It also pushes down the main content of the article and in this day and age of scrolling rather than reading, no one has patience to wade through a bunch of extra information they weren't expecting like "what is the World Cup". In any case, point 3 in the checklist requires more work. QPQ is done. Hooks have a bunch of problems: All hooks suffer from MOS:SEAOFBLUE, an excessive number of blue links to common words and phrases that confuse the reader as to where they should click (the objective is to get them to read the article about Freddy, remember?). ALT0 definitely does not qualify as a picture hook, as Langley is not the main subject of the article. Also it seems funny only to a limited audience (Americans who know what Langley is referring to the CIA headquarters). The whole thing seems like an oversimplification as well. Perhaps the hook can still be saved but it needs a bit more thought put into it. ALT1 fails the interesting test (what is a GTA lobby? even if I work out that it's a Grand Theft Auto reference, why is it interesting to a broad audience?). Also the sourcing for that hook fails point 5 in the checklist (though perhaps an alternate source could be found). ALT2 has potential but "garnered prominence" sounds awkward. @Knightoftheswords281: All this to say, there is a lot of interesting content in this article, so don't hide it, and don't undersell it – with the right hook, this should be a winner in the monthly DYK stats – take a look through the successful past hooks to see what works.   • @Cielquiparle and AirshipJungleman29:, while in retrospect, the background section was prolly too long, I don't agree with its wholesale removal, since the broader "European/international tourists come to America during the WC and love it" has been pretty extensively covered in the sources used in this article, as well as (to a lesser extent) the political atmosphere around the WC. Such a background section with one or two (shorter) paragraphs with the base biographical information included at the top of the following section moved in should be fine and fall under WP:DUE. As for ALT0, I think the interest is more from the wordplay in the hook, which would probably intrigue readers in of themselves (perhaps the link could be changed from GB Center of Int. to just the CIA?); the same is (slightly less) true with (a de-initialized) ALT1, since GTA and its contents are fairly broadly known globally. Also, NYP is considered reliable for uncontroversial, non-political statements per WP:RSP.     • Thanks for the ping. It's some excessive detail and some wording. The lead is larger than most FAs, phrases like "eagle-eyed netizens" and "and received extensive attention" are reminiscent of much more promotional articles, the significant amounts of unencyclopedic minor details in his journey (I guess it's good to know which mountains are good sniper points?) contributes to the feeling of bloat, and the use of some fairly tabloidy sources—I've never heard of Dexerto before but I'm not surprised that WP:RSP advises against using it for BLPs—doesn't help. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 11:08, 10 July 2026 (UTC)

The Quetena River line now cites an open-source science journal and I split the tourism line into two sentences after trimming content a bit. To the last point, the Smithsonian's GVP survey lists every documented volcano (Holocene or Pleistocene epoch) on the planet by type, and lists Quetena as the tallest fissure-vent. The database does not make statements but the data is otherwise unambiguous, so I've left it in the article with a link to the complete database. Please let me know if you have other comments! As an additional note, as I've noticed that this has been a recurring issue regarding some of your nominations: please be sure to propose hooks that would be easily understandable to or appreciated by international audiences, or by people unfamiliar with the shows you mention. Not every reader is familiar with series like Hollyoaks and other British/Commonwealth TV series, so you need to keep in mind the perspective of non-fans when coming up with hooks, rather than thinking within the fandom. @Narutolovehinata5:, I think that is quite unfair to say. I disagree that ALT0 requires knowledge of the show – being part of the second black family of any tv show does not require knowledge of the show (or any work) beforehand, and it is still interesting. It would requitre knowledge if it read something like "that Scarlett Archer's character did x to another character" or something, which would border on violating DYKFICTION. Obviously people have different opinions on what is interesting or not, but I think saying that many of my proposed hooks are only understood by/interesting to fans is quite disrespectful as they are not. These hooks are for all readers. For example, I have no interest in X-Men, but if I saw a hook saying that an actor portrayed the first LGBTQ+ character in the franchise, I would be intrigued to know more beforehand. Every single hook I propose is in good faith and I believe that it is of interest to everyone, not just people similar with the source. Again, you are entitled to your opinion, but I find it extremely insulting and in bad faith that you assume I am just "thinking within the fandom", when in reality I have always focussed on putting real world information on articles regarding works. I have tried to be understanding and good faith of your criticisms of hooks I have proposed in the past but this crosses the line, particularly as this has not been brought up by any other editors. (edit conflict) @DaniloDaysOfOurLives: The issue here is that, if a reader is unfamiliar with Emmerdale, they wouldn't necessarily understand that playing a Black character in the series is a big deal. Many series these days feature Black or minority characters, so just being a Black or minority appearing on a TV show is not necessarily out of the ordinary by itself unless there is notable context behind it. Being the first LGBTQ+ actor in X-Men would likely be seen as more interesting as X-Men is a far more well-known property than Emmerdale, for example.

Perhaps it's because I'm from the Philippines, where British TV series aren't popular, which might partially explain why I do not find the hook interesting, but that might actually be an issue here. It's not like X-Men or DC/Marvel superheroes who are household names in much of the world. Ideally TV show-related hooks need to appeal to international audiences, or at least to the broadest possible readership. That is why a hook like ALT2 is actually better than ALT0, since it requires no knowledge about any TV series or its plot and background.

I apologize if my tone earlier came off as harsh as that was not my intention. I did not mean that you were intending to write hooks primarily for fans of the series you write about. My point was to keep in mind how non-fans of those shows, or people who've never heard of the shows before (admittedly, I'd never heard of Emmerdale prior to this nomination) would react to these hooks. Since the comment thought it possible there was a misunderstanding from the DYK nominator, I'll just say that I think both hooks are accurate with no misunderstandings. The only thing to be aware of is that, strictly speaking on ALT1, it's not like the Letter directly says "evil comes from chief archon Yaladbaoth's meddling, not Adam's disobedience". It's more that this seems like the theology the letter author is assuming and writing in, instead, rather than a direct contradiction. (No change required, just as a bit of background.) I might suggest adding the word "Gnostic" somewhere as well, as "only notably strays" suggests it is surprising that the connection is so close, but someone reading the hook won't necessarily know it was a Gnostic Christian work.   • @Vacant0: Hi, and thank you for linking WP:SRBRS, which I was looking for when making this article, but couldn't find. Looking at it, it doesn't appear that most sources in the article are unreliable. The vast majority of citations in this article (over 80%) aren't listed as generally unreliable on that page (I'm lumping in a decent chunk of the Vaseljenska articles in there since those are actually op-eds by the subject, so are acceptable under WP:ABOUTSELF). Of the 20% that are, most are cited to other, more reliable sources, so can be simply removed. There are a lot of citations to Mondo and Telegraf, which are considered situational on SRBRS, but even they often are just regurgitations of specific claims she's made, tangentially related to politics, or even sometimes (as a politician not apart of, but aligned with Vucic and the SNS) mildly critical, so I think they largely pass; the frequency of such sources are to be expected from someone like her who is this psuedo-influencer celebrity politician. • Wilbers, hi. The article needs a lot of work. First, it was tagged by an editor requesting its key points summarized in the WP:LEDE. Already in the first paragraph because J. K. Rowling objected to the creation of a pinball machine and its association with gambling. –I did not find the word gambling in any of the two accessible sources, and the one leading to a book/publication does not have its page cited. The section Variations in editions needs work on inline citations. A big chunk of the text is linked only to a single reference, and if it were not for ref #15, I would tag it under "single source". Those are the first things to address; there are many more, for example, copyediting from Harry Potter to Harry Potter and using date templates, etc. Ping me when this first part, if it can, is fixed. In many of the established Malaysian newspapers and portals that I have cited for this article, the uniqueness of Malays singing in Chinese is highlighted right in their titles.
